IELTS Speaking Part 1 – Water Activity as student

Examiner: Do you like to swim or go to the beach?
Candidate: I love swimming and going to the beach. During summer breaks, I often go to the beach with my friends or family to relax, sunbathe, and swim in the sea. It’s one of my favourite ways to spend my free time.

Examiner: What is your favourite water activity?
Candidate: My favourite water activity is swimming. I love how refreshing and relaxing it feels to be in the water. Sometimes, I also enjoy kayaking or paddleboarding with my friends.

Examiner: Have you ever gone fishing or boating?
Candidate: I have gone fishing and boating a few times with my family. Although I’m not particularly good at fishing, I enjoy the peacefulness of being on the water and the thrill of catching a fish.

Examiner: Have you ever gone swimming in the ocean or a lake?
Candidate:I have gone swimming in a lake a few times with my friends during the summer. It’s a great way to cool off and have fun.

Examiner: Do you like water sports, such as surfing or water skiing?
Candidate: I have never tried water sports, but I would love to try surfing someday. It looks like a lot of fun.

Examiner: What is your favourite activity to do near water?
Candidate: My favourite activity to do near water is probably just relaxing on the beach or swimming with my friends. It’s a great way to spend a summer day.

Examiner: Have you ever gone fishing or crabbing?
Candidate: No, I haven’t gone fishing or crabbing before. It’s not really something that interests me.

Examiner: Would you prefer to go to the beach or the lake?
Candidate: I prefer going to the beach. I love feeling the sand between my toes and hearing the waves crashing on the shore.

Examiner: Have you ever been to the beach before?
Candidate: I have been to the beach several times with my family during summer vacations. We usually go to a nearby beach and spend the whole day there, swimming in the sea and playing beach games.

Candidate: Several activities can be done near the water, such as swimming, surfing, boating, fishing, and kayaking. I usually prefer swimming and kayaking as they are both fun and good exercise.

Candidate: I prefer swimming in the sea as it is more fun and refreshing than swimming in a pool. However, I also like swimming in a pool when I want to practice my strokes or do some laps.

Examiner: Have you ever tried scuba diving or snorkelling?
Candidate: I haven’t tried scuba diving or snorkelling yet, but I would love to try it someday. Exploring the underwater world and seeing the marine life up close would be a great experience.

Examiner: What is your favourite beach or waterfront spot?
Candidate: My favourite beach is the one near my hometown. It’s a small beach with clear water and soft sand, and it’s not too crowded, so it’s a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery.

Examiner: What activities would you do if you were spending some leisure time at the beach near the ocean?
Candidate: If I were spending leisure time at the beach near the ocean, I would love to swim, play beach volleyball, build sandcastles, and sunbathe. I would also love to try water sports like surfing, snorkelling, and kayaking.

Examiner: Why do some people like water sports?
Candidate: Some people like water sports because they offer a thrilling and adventurous experience. These sports can be challenging and exciting and provide a great workout. Being in the water can also be calming and relaxing, offering a unique perspective of the environment.

Examiner: Do you think the government should spend money on developing facilities for water sports?
Candidate: I believe the government should spend money on developing facilities for water sports. This will encourage more people to participate in these activities, promote tourism, and boost the local economy. Additionally, proper facilities and equipment ensure safety and enhance the overall experience.

Examiner: Do you think it’s important for children to learn how to swim?
Candidate: I think it’s very important for children to learn how to swim. It helps them to be safe around water, provides a great form of exercise, and teaches them valuable life skills. Swimming can also boost their confidence and help them develop a love for water sports.

Examiner: Do you think that it is important to learn about the oceans and why?
Candidate: I believe it is important to learn about the oceans. Oceans cover 71% of the Earth’s surface and play a critical role in regulating the climate and sustaining life on our planet. Understanding the oceans can help us make informed decisions about our environment and how to protect it.

Examiner: Have you ever been scuba diving or snorkelling? If so, where did you do it, and how was your experience?
Candidate: I haven’t gone scuba diving or snorkelling yet. But I would love to try it someday. It would be a unique and exciting experience to explore the underwater world and see all the different types of marine life up close.

Examiner: What are some popular water-related activities in your country?
Candidate: Well, I’m from a landlocked region, so we don’t have any beaches or oceans nearby. But we have some beautiful lakes and rivers where people like fishing, kayaking, and canoeing. Those are probably the most popular water activities in my region.

Examiner: How do you think climate change is affecting the world’s oceans?
Candidate: Climate change definitely has a big impact on the oceans. The rising sea levels, ocean acidification, and increased temperatures affect marine life and ecosystems. I think it’s important for people to take action to reduce their carbon footprint and help protect the oceans.
