One of my favourite places to relax is a small park near my apartment in Taipei, called Daan Forest Park. It’s often referred to as the “lungs of the city” because it’s filled with trees, walking paths, and a large pond in the centre.
I usually go there in the early mornings or late evenings, especially when I feel overwhelmed with my university work. The park has benches under shady trees, open grassy fields, and even a quiet reading corner near the library. I often take a book or listen to music while sitting near the pond and watching the ducks swim.
Sometimes I go for a slow walk or do light stretching exercises. The atmosphere is peaceful, and I often see elderly people doing Tai Chi or children playing with their families, which creates a very calming and joyful vibe.
What I love most is how the natural surroundings help me disconnect from digital life. The sound of birds, the fresh air, and the absence of traffic noise allow me to reset mentally. Even spending just 30 minutes there helps me feel refreshed and focused for the rest of the day.
It’s not a fancy place, but for me, it’s the perfect little escape from the busy city life.
