Examiner: You have one to two minutes. You can begin speaking now.

Candidate (Prince):
One of my favourite places to eat is SpiceVilla, a well-known restaurant located on the outskirts of Kadi, a small town in Gujarat. It’s about a 10-minute drive from the main market, and it’s popular among both locals and tourists.

The restaurant features a modern yet cosy design, offering both indoor and outdoor seating. The walls are adorned with Indian cultural art, and gentle instrumental music plays in the background. It has a very welcoming atmosphere.

They provide quick service, free Wi-Fi, and home delivery within the town. The staff is polite and attentive, and they always serve water and small appetisers as soon as you sit down.

My favourite dish is the North Indian thali, which includes paneer butter masala, dal, rice, roti, and sweet gulab jamun. The restaurant is also famous for its Punjabi cuisine and tandoori starters.

I like this place because the food is always fresh, affordable, and hygienic. It’s also a great place to hang out with friends or celebrate small occasions. The food tastes homemade, and the service never disappoints.

Examiner: Thank you. Do you often go there with friends?

Candidate: Yes, at least twice a month. It’s our go-to spot after college events or during the weekends.

🔁 Part 3: Follow-Up Questions

1. Do you like cooking?
Yes, I really enjoy cooking simple dishes like pasta, dal, and fried rice. It provides me with a creative outlet and helps me unwind after a busy day. I find it rewarding when others enjoy the food I’ve prepared.

2. Will you cook for your friends when they visit?
Definitely! Cooking for friends makes gatherings more personal and memorable. I usually prepare snacks or a full meal, and we all enjoy eating together while chatting or playing games.

3. What are the pros and cons of fast food?
Fast food is convenient, tasty, and often affordable, making it highly attractive, especially to young people. However, it’s usually high in calories, fat, and salt, which can lead to health issues if eaten regularly. It’s good occasionally, but not for daily consumption.

4. Why is fast food so popular?
Fast food is popular because it saves time, especially for people with busy schedules. It’s also widely available and marketed heavily, which makes it easy to access. Many people also enjoy the flavours and variety it offers.

5. What is the difference between fresh food and canned food?
Fresh food is often more nutritious, with better taste and texture. In contrast, canned food often contains preservatives and can be high in sodium to extend its shelf life. While canned food is convenient, fresh food is healthier when available.

6. What can we do to solve the problem of food shortage?
We can reduce food waste at the household and commercial levels. Promoting local farming, supporting sustainable agriculture, and improving food distribution can also make a big difference. Education about mindful consumption is equally important.

7. What are the advantages and disadvantages of family food?
Family food is usually healthier, home-cooked, and prepared with care. It helps families bond and maintain cultural traditions. However, preparing it takes time and effort, which can be challenging for busy households.

8. How has the restaurant industry changed in recent years?
The restaurant industry has become increasingly digital, with the rise of online ordering, delivery apps, and digital payments. There’s also a greater focus on hygiene, sustainability, and diverse cuisines. Customer expectations have increased significantly, particularly following the pandemic.

9. Do people prefer eating out or ordering in?
It depends on the situation. Many people enjoy the experience of eating out with family or friends, while others prefer the comfort and convenience of ordering in. Food delivery has become extremely popular in urban areas.

10. How important is the atmosphere of a restaurant?
The atmosphere plays a significant role in the dining experience. A clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated place makes people want to return. Good music, lighting, and seating can enhance the mood and make the food taste even better.
