IELTS Listening – 4 Sections

The IELTS Listening exam consists of four sections, each with its own audio recording and set of questions. Here is an overview of each section:

  1. Section 1: This section usually features a conversation between two people, such as a dialogue between a customer and a shopkeeper or a conversation between two colleagues. The questions in this section often involve completing a form, filling in blanks, or providing short answers.
  2. Section 2: This section typically features a monologue or a talk given by a single speaker. The topic may be related to education, travel, or other common subjects. The questions in this section may involve labelling a diagram or map, completing a table, or filling in the blanks.
  3. Section 3: This section usually features a conversation between two or three people, such as a discussion among students and their professors or a conversation among colleagues planning a project. The questions in this section may involve matching information, completing notes or a summary, or providing short answers.
  4. Section 4: This section typically features a monologue or a talk given by a single speaker on an academic topic, such as a lecture on a scientific concept or a discussion of a historical event. The questions in this section may involve completing a table, filling in blanks, or providing short answers.

In each section, you will have time to read the questions before the audio recording begins, and you will have time to review your answers after the recording ends. It is important to listen carefully and take notes while the recording is playing to ensure that you do not miss any important information.
